A human can read a page and infer that a name belongs to an author, an address belongs to a location, and a date represents a revision. Software systems benefit when those relationships are made explicit.
Structured data is one machine-readable representation. Organization, ProfilePage, Article, and LocalBusiness markup allow supported facts to be expressed in standardized form. Internal databases and knowledge graphs can provide even richer structured relationships for the organization’s own systems.
Machine readability should follow human truth. The markup should represent what the page and evidence already support. It should not be used to smuggle unsupported claims into code.
